Oracle Database Performance Optimization

Most of them will bring about some performance problems more or less after running for a period of time, which mainly involve database hardware, database server, database memory, applications, operating systems and database parameters, etc.The tuning for database system is vital to the normal running of the whole system, but it is a complicated work. Therefore, performance tuning and optimization of database systems, which concern multiple aspects, are very vital to the normal running of the whole system. We can improve the stability and availability of database, guarantee its high running efficiency, solve system bottleneck, reduce system overhead and obtain considerable applicability and in the meanwhile.This paper analyzes all kinds of performance problems that may occur on Database Server, application programs, OS(Operating System) and network during the running of Database application system. Then put forward some usual methods to settle them based on Oracle database. Tuning for Database Server includes the tuning for memory and I/O. In order to tune memory we describe how to improve the sharing for memory; And the tuning for I/O mainly includes decreasing the contention of I/O by reasonable distribution of physical and logical structure, adjusting the storing of data, and the optimizing for rollback segment and redo log. While discussing the tuning of OS and network, this paper emphasizes how to increase the resource serving for database by reducing the resource taking up by other applications, and how to improve the performance of network by reducing the flow on network.In addition, the quality of the application's design whose key is SQL language will affect the function of the whole database system directly. This paper particularly introduces the optimization and the adjusting principle of the SQL language. It introduces the practical skills of index in the application's developing and using.At last, this paper introduces the general rules and methods to tune Database application system by tuning an example.
