With the rapid development of communication technology in the civil and military area,Receiver/transmitter is widely used in microwave and millimeter wave radars and communication systems. Nowadays, the microwave band is so crowd that it cannot satisfy the need of modern electronic system. For the operating frequencies of modern radars and guidance,electronic countermeasure system,communication system,remote sense and remote measurement system expand to millimeter band step by step, the operating frequencies of T/R module raise ceaselessly. Simultaneity millimeter wave T/R module which has the advantages of small dimension, lightweight, wide band is more suitable to the requirement of modern army and communication system.This paper is mainly referred to the research of T/R module in U band,which is used in millimeter wave frequency modulation ranging system. As 5mm band is the band of atmosphere attenuation, its application often is secure communication. The researches about this band haven't been started for long time, and we haven't many reference documents, so this paper has amount of reference value.First of this paper is the study significance of millimeter wave T/R module and the introduction of its background and development of in our country and foreign. Then it puts forward the target of this paper.Chapter 2 introduces the theory of low noise amplifier (LNA), and designs a broadband LNA operating in 5mm band. In the frequency range 55 to 65GHz, the LNA has characters such as wide band,low noise,nice gain flatness, and can be taken good use of in receiver. Consequently it supplies for measuring radar,guidance system,millimeter wave communication, which has good engineering use value.Chapter 3 traverses the T/R module's scheme, separately designs each part of it,for instance millimeter wave frequency multiplier,waveguide-microstrip transition,mixer,power divider,driving amplifier and IF amplifier.Lastly, based on the work above, a U band T/R module is developed and measured. The transmitter channel has a good linearity signal whose power can reach 12.3dBm.The receiver channel can provide a gain about 50dB after mixing. The T/R module obtains the expected object.
