With the rapid development of wireless communication technology in the civil and military fields, the utilization of microwave band electromagnetic spectrum is too crowded. The band can not meet the requirement of spectrum resource of the electronic system in the information times. The operating frequency of modern radar and vector, electronic counteraction, communication and remote detecting system has been gradually expanded from the microwave band to the millimeter band. Many millimeter-wave Transmission and Recipient (T/R) modules are being equipped to the communication system in the civil and military fields.This paper is mainly referred to the research of T/R module. The module is designed for the millimeter-wave communication system which used in military field. The research was supported by University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) and JiuZhou Electric Group Corporation.The feature and the research purpose of millimeter-wave T/R module and developing tendency in domestic and home is introduced in chapter 1. At last, it illustrates the main work of this paper.The design methods of millimeter-wave T/R module passive circuit are introduced in chapter 2. Due to the T/R module was implemented by the planar integrated circuit, this chapter introduces the feature of the microstrip transmission line first. Then it introduces the planar passive circuit theory and the design method of the module. This part includes the design methods of the millimeter-wave bandpass filter, microwave and Intermediate frequency amplifier, millimeter-wave power amplifier, waveguide to microstrip transition, millimeter coupler etc.Chapter 3 is the design of the millimeter-wave solid-state. The theory of the frequency multiplier, low-noise amplifier, frequency mixer and power amplifier were analyzed in detail. The active circuit modules which include the millimeter-wave frequency mixer, the millimeter-wave low-noise amplifier, the millimeter-wave power amplifier, and the millimeter-wave frequency multiplier were manufactured.Chapter 4 is the most important part of the paper. On the basis of design of the active and passive module, we put forward the scheme and allocate the index. According to the scheme, we show the schematic plan of the module, designed the power supply circuit, switch driver circuit and installation of the cavity. Then we finished the designs of the millimeter-wave receiving front-end. Exerting the millimeter-wave T/R module into the cavity and test its performance.Chapter 5 is conclusion of the article. Results of experiment verified that the T/R module meet requirement of the system.
