The railway transport capacity can be improved substantially by heavy-haul trains, of which synchronous control is a key technology. Brake control unit is an important part of synchronous control system, the performance of which is related to heavy-haul trains's running safety directly. As the brake control unit used in China currently can not satisfy the need of synchronous control system, it is urgently needed to develop a new type brake control unit.In this thesis, the key factors impacting on the performance of heavy-hual train's synchronous braking is analyzed based on the analysis of heavy-hual train's braking. Owing to the lower control accuracy of brake control unit used currently and the poor information technology, a new brake control unit is designed.In synchronous control system, pressure of the locomotive braking cubage must be very accurate. Because of nonlinear control object, difference of parameter and deadzone of high-speed electro-valve, general control methods can not meet the requirements of the control precision. An improved single-neuron adaptive PID with deadzone dynamic compensation algorithm is proposed in this thesis and fuzzy control is used as compensating the deadzone of high-speed electro-valve, so that cubage pressure control can be more accurate. Simulation and running results prove that this algorithm is effective.Reliability and real-time performance of the interior communication of brake control unit is crucial. Hardware redundancy technology is used to solve the reliability problem in this thesis. In order to solve real-time problem which caused by the lack of network resource, a real-time optimization based on bus scheduling algorithm is used to enhance real-time performance of communication.The design of hardware and software, the brake control unit experiments of synchronous control system are finished in laboratory. Then type-test is passed in China Academy of Railway Sciences, and operation experiment is successful in the subordinate company of China ShenHua Energy Company Limited. The results show that the new type brake control unit can meet the technology requests and realize the synchronous braking of heavy-haul trains' synchronous control system.
