Recently, with the growing polymer material science and updated polymer processing methods, the enterprises are forced to shorten development cycle and reduce research costs.On the basis of studying the intermeshing co-rotating twin-screw extruder and its extrusion system, through investigating in a domestic famous enterprise for twin screw extruder, the idea, which is to carry on visualization design about intermeshing co-rotating twin screw extruder based on development technology and numerical simulation method, is put forward. Firstly, based on the intermeshing co-rotating twin-screw geometry, the three-dimensional parametric models of the parts belong to the extrusion system are established. Secondly, on the basis of studying the principles of parametric design and key technologies of the digital assembly design, the methods for automatic assembling and the assembly sequences planning for extrusion system are obtained. Finally, by Visual C++6.0 and Pro/Toolkit, the prototype system of visualization design is established, which makes the parametric design of the extrusion system parts, the automatic assembling and the assembly sequence planning, the interference inspection and the movement simulation of extrusion systems come true. After the automatic assembly of extrusion system, the three-dimensional model of its melting-transmission channel is established, then the numerical simulation calculation is carried out by Finite Volume Method (FVM), and the fluid pressure profile and velocity profile are analyzed. The outflow of numerical simulation is accord well with the one of experiment, which proves that numerical simulation calculation can be used for extruder design.The design efficiency can be enhanced by the visualization design software which combines with the industry standards and business experience into the CAD system. Accordingly, to a certain extent, the flow field analysis by numerical simulation can be instead of the extrusion experiment, which can shorten the development cycle and reduce design costs. A highly efficient method for new extrusion system products design is provided.
