With rapid economic development of China in recent years, the society and social living is undergoing great changes. Consumption has become the "must" part of living and the phenomenon of consumption society have appeared in some China areas, which is affected by consuming culture. Meanwhile, television media is transforming in communicative standpoint, contents and functions. Under the conspiracy of television media and consumption society, mass living is affected deeply.Based on these theories of Consumer Society, Consumerism and Semeiology, this thesis aims to probe how television media are promoted by the consumer society through the ways of content analysis, case analysis and document reference.This thesis analyses the situation of television communication under the background of comsumer society and gets the conclusion on the conspiracy between television media and consumer society. And then analyses the negative influence from the conspiracy in three aspects: the contents television media communicate; the influnece to audience on value assessement and television diviation on its role.The results that the writer gets include the following items: For audiences, shallow visual images, copy contents, meaningless expression are affecting their value assessement with the direction to self-fulfillment utilitarianism, happiness materiality, personality simplification; As a communicator, television media attaches the most importance to interests,audience-oriented and technology-oriented. The thesis puts forward various strategies on the aspects of media contents, the influence to audiences and media self-discipline, with the aim to lowerthe harmfulness and to promote the development for consumer society and television media.
