As the demands of the customers is growing day by day and the fierce competition of the networking equipment market, Beijing Vanlink Communication & Technology Co.Ltd., has persistently tries their best to meet the demands by advancing the performance and functionality of the hardware as well as improving the architecture of the software for the router.This paper has introduced a solution to impove the performance of the Ethernet interface and serial port on the Vanlink routers. By optimizing the system software especially the working sequence of the drivers on the existing hardware platform, efficiency of the hardware has been maximized , so the performance of the system is gained and throughput is advanced.This paper introduced the principle and application of the Ethernet and the Serial port, then made a detailed explanation to the newly designed Ethernet driver and Serial port driver, which are based on the studies of the structure of the Freescale communication processor.
