Design And Implementation Of Net Port Virtual Serial Port Device Technology

The serial is a very general equipment communication protocol. There are two serialports based on the RS-232in most of computers(not including the notebookcomputer).The serial is also a general protocol of some instruments and apparatuses, forexample of some GPIB devices equipped with RS-232port. At the same time, serialcommunication protocol can be used to access remote data from collection devices. Withthe development of communications technology, serial communication takes an importantpart in the field of computer network communication. And it is also very popular in thecommunication software, such as telephone, fax, video and various controls. With theincreasing popularity of network, more and more new equipments have jo ined with networkfunction, and it will be very efficient for managing equipment. But there are also somedevices like projectors and the card readers in control-systems, still equipped with theRS-232interface; this paper describes the communication of serial and network.In order to access and communicate with the net easily and quickly through the serial,the paper will realize the communications with the help of the serial port programming andSocket programming. Firstly, we will create the serial port which runs as the real one incomputer, and then communicate with the distal end of the specified port, that is why thehost can monitor the remote equipment. Because of the realization with programming, itdoesn’t need refitting the equipment or adding new equipment, so it greatly simplifies thework and reduces the cost of hardware.This paper introduces the technology of the UMDF driver mode, the TCP/IP workingmode, the serial communication programming and the Socket communication programmingetc, it also introduces the overall target, the structure and the functional module of thesystem designing, another then, it introduces the method of the serial driver based on theUMDF and the serial communication of TCP Server, TCP Client, UPD working mode. Inthe end, it gives the functioning and perforating test report to the serial driver and socketcommunication.
