The term 'New media' has been used since 1960s. It covers ever-expanding variety of applications and communication technologies. Wiki, Blog, RSS and SNS, as the new forms of media, have been widely used by the masses. Consequently, the masses' attitudes are altered as the expansion of new media. People who hold different opinions about new media , such as Toronto scholars, public social theory believers, and Moderate reformers in the information society, which are unable to evade the fact that media users—audience, become the core of communication studies.Users of new media make the possibility for the media's development .When we focus on the media in campus, we are so optimistic that we can image them full of fantasy. Because SNS has the characteristics of real-name system and network interpersonal contacts, some people thought that SNS realize our ancient dream which make us have a real communication out of time and space constraints.This essay below has answered such question on the basis of empirical investigation. Both the macroscopically social, such as economic and cultural factors, and microcosmic individual needs, have limited media users' access and using possibility. The birth of any new medium is just the development and extension of the older one. It is impossible to solve humanity's ultimate problem, and also will be useless. It will extend the breadth and depth of human life, and give rise to an unprecedented possibility.Therefore, it is true that the general description of SNS audience in Chinese campus will be useful to its future expansion and dissemination. In this essay, we made a survey to find out audience's media exposure in our country, we also analysis their media preferences and attitude about media using. This survey has inspected the structural characteristics of campus SNS audience in China. And after a series of work we found out their needs and motivation when they are using social network sites . According to the perspective of meeting the using demand, this essay has described the situation of campus SNS audience's demands and satisfactions in China.This kind of survey is thought to be the first time until now in China. This survey shows that the hunger for network recognition is still the primary function of SNS using, it is also show that interpersonal relationships did not return to reality as we thought it should be. On the contrary, showing awareness and the trend that people used to show their performance in front of the scene rather than background, both this behave make the virtual network space full of variables. The real communication is still our future prospects for exploration.
