Heterogeneous Network Interworking

With the development of communications network technology, public switched telephone network (PSTN) need to transition to broadband networks, this will be a long process, PSTN and broadband network will coexistence in a long time, it is necessary to achieve the interconnection of two heterogeneous network.An ATM network is a communication network whitch using ATM switching system, with dedicated ATM signaling. The ATM networks need to interconnect with multiple existing networks. Interoperated with the PSTN, the ATM network can be used in accordance with requirements on the 7th China (No.7) signal or China on the 1st (No.1) signal. The ATM network only provided MTP and TUP functional modules with signaling No.7.Under researched the above issue and realize the interconnection between ATM networks and PSTN. The main contents include:1. Research ATM networks signaling and call process;2. Research No.1/No.7 signaling and call processes;3. Based on the analysis with ATM signaling and signaling No.1/No.7 call processes, with the technology of interconnection with PSTN and broadband network, Raised a conversion of signal between ATM networks and the PSTN;4. To achieve the conversion between ATM signaling and signaling No.1/No.7, and achieved the conversion of telephone numbers between ATM network and the PSTN;5. To complete the exchange between ATM and PSTN with hardware.
