Music editors usually refer to experts who perform the function of disseminating music. They are"gatekeeper"of the construction of social music culture, and they are playing the bridge and the link roles in the process of spreading music. In a sense, they determines the development direction of the entire social music enterprise. The music editorial work, from the policy formulation, the selection of topics and the processing to the overall mastery of the editorial style, has an important impact on the quality of musical works.Modern media take the electronic technology as a core, and influence people's life style with its great spreading rapid, efficiency and full. Modern media have become the spokesman of consumption culture, and inevitably influenced the music editorial work in modern media. Compared with the music editorial work in traditional media, the music editorial work in modern media has had tremendous changes functionally, among which the most remarkable one is that its entertainment function has been fully developed.The consumption culture is a new culture morphology which comes into being with the development of social economy and the appearance of the consumer society. Along with the penetration of the consumption culture impact, the relation between it and modern media is becoming much closer. Under the influence of the consumption culture, many characteristics of music editorial work and those of the consumption culture happen to be the same, which is represented by natuer of the consumption culture, pan-popularize, the entertainment, patternizing and the short-term of the music editorial work.In the process of modern media, music editors attempts to stimulate consumers' desire, and to meet consumers' demand. However, facing the contradiction between commercialism and humanism, music editors must improve their individual dominant cultural awareness and their own cultural quality unceasingly, maintain the extension of civilization, protect and develop China's traditional music culture, and fulfill culture's guiding function. On the premise that humane care should be maintained, music editors should conform to the law of value of the commercial society, instead of losing themselves completely in the pursuit of commercial interest. Only in this way can music editors not fall behind the time, and be independent, which is the quality a real music editor should have. Thus, they are the real disseminators of music and watchers of social culture who have a highly cultural sense of responsibility that is needed by our time.
