With the development of IT and the application of all kinds of project management software and PMIS (Project Management Information System), a great number of data of projects are collected and stored. KDD (Knowledge Discovery in Database) has become one critical problem of how to advance the informationization of construction projects.Firstly, the concepts of KDD, Project Management, as well as the different classifications of knowledge and expression patterns in project management were introduced in this paper. The process of KDD in project management was proposed, then the methods of KDD were discussed and analysised.Secondly, after the analysis about various methods of KDD, the model of KDD based on MCLP (Multi-Criteria Linear Programming) was established. With the application of this model, the required patterns of project knowledge are discovered from the project databases, which can be reused in the current project. The other model of KDD based on CBR (Case-based Reasoning) for Issues in Construction Project Management was also built, in which case expression, case storage, case retrieve, and case reuse or revision, case study were introduced in detail. The time and cost of solving problems were reduced by using this model. Finally, the results and the directions of this research were given. The scientific, effective methods and tools were provided to enhance management efficiency, and a new theory of information reuse was explored in this paper. However, there are many challenges when the KDD models are applied in project practice, and the further researches are needed.
