Embedded system has been widely applied to industry fields such as manufacturing industry,process control,communication,instruments,automobiles,ships,aviation,aerospace and military equipments broadly, and be closely tied with industrial automation. With the technical development of flowmeter instruments we ask more requirements to them .It is mainly shown as the following two points: the first one is intelligence, development of the industrial automation make it more and more difficult to control instruments ; the other one is network , with the gradual development of network, more industrial control instruments are demanded to have the network function to make full use of common network resource Internet to realize remote control.The thesis uses S3C2410A microprocessor of Samsung as the core of system. It is a 32 bit controller with RISC architecture based on ARM 920T and five-stage architecture. The S3C2410A have a rapid operate speed, the clock frequency of which is high to 202MHz which is met calculating requirements of complicated instruments. The main contents are as follow.(1) The thesis studies the key technology of intelligent instrument,embedded microprocessor and embedded operating system. And give details how Linux operating system is transplanted on the ARM microcontroller successfully.(2) A solution to embedded intelligent instrument based on ARM9 platform and Linux is proposed.(3) According to the requirements of complicated intelligent instrument ,the paper gives a design method of hardware and software in the application of intelligent electromagnetic flowmeter instrument based on ARM9 .(4) In terms of the hardware characteristics of embedded system, this thesis conducts a optimized design for electromagnetic flowmeter instrument system, and applies a module design method for the hardware ,and raises application and research level of the instrument, at the same time lessens design difficulty.
