Recently, media streaming applications over Internet grow rapidly. How to implement an economic and efficient streaming communication and transmission system has become the core problem of media streaming system. The traditional distributed multimedia systems mainly adopt C/S mode, and the server connects the client by unicast. Under the mode, when users increase rapidly, the resource of server such as bandwidth will run out quickly because of the high bandwidth and lasting long time for media service. This becomes the bottleneck and will lead to bad scalability. Media streaming system based on p2p technology can decentralize the service, alleviate the server loading and distribute media streaming content in a larger scale.Firstly, this paper studies several media streaming data distribution technologies at home and abroad, and then introduces the correlative basic theories, especially, the Chord, Skype, NAT and firewall traversal technology. Secondly, after the description of the structure and principle of HTMSA system, the paper analyzes the system control protocol including peer communication, peer management, HASH operation, peer searching and resource orientation. Thirdly, the paper researches the media data transmission and scheduling scheme based on the analysis of OTS and FSS algorithm, and designs MBDS algorithm and does the simulation. Finally, according to living and Vod's principle and similarity, the paper presents a unified frame for both of them including the frames of media streaming technical, peer abstract layer and scalable module.The results of analysis and simulation indicate that HTMSA service architecture is of good scalability, stability, efficiency and auto-adapt -ability, which is suitable for today's network, and the algorithm based on MBDS scheduling scheme performs well in transmitting delay. Under the peer-to-peer mode, to construct a high-powered media streaming service system is still the starting point and goal for the future work.
