With the rapid development of computer and network, the application of computer has been extending increasingly. All kinds of works are more dependent on computer. There is no exception in library management. Using computer technology to manage books dated from 1970s in China. With reforms and opening, especially after 1990s, the construction of information network of library has obtained great progress, and the informationization of library has entered into a new phase. The means of library management had changed from manual management into computer management.UML is a kind of well-defined, expressive, powerful and useful modeling language. It absorbed new ideas, methods and technology from software engineering. It can not only be used to establish system model of software, but also be used to describe systematic model distinguishing from software and process complex data. It can also describe industrial system or procedure with real-time requirement, etc. This paper applies UML and ROSE to design the library management system of Zhunyi Normal College. Before designing, the basic conception of information system, UML and ROSE are introduced. And then the requirement analysis of system is done. Based on the requirement analysis, the main use case diagram and detail use case diagram are given. Based on requirement analysis and use case model, the static model and dynamic model are given. The static model of system includes class diagrams and the dynamic model of system includes sequence diagrams, collaboration diagrams and activity diagrams. Finally, the deployment diagrams of system and database are presented.
