A Higher Vocational College Library Management System Software Design And Implementation

With the rapid development of computer technology and commonly used of computers, the work of library has been greatly improved with the help of auto-management which relies on so many library management softwares. However, most of the existed library sofwares are developed based on the library business management. There is merely software which is developed based on the combination of library business management and personnel management. At the same time, fingerprint identification system is widely used in personnel attendance time; but this system is only involved in personnel attendance time and their personal data, and it is merely used with combination of business management. Therefore, to develop a special library management system with combination of library business management and personnel management has the practical value and realistic significance.This paper discusses how to design, develop and implement the software management system which is used in the library of some higher vocational college. Firstly, according to the analysis of the system function demanded by the existing hardware devices connection, this paper makes clear that this system is made up of two parts---books management and personnel management, and especially analyses the authorities'functional needs of the system. Then this paper designs and implements the books management and access, and completes the TCP protocol based on the client and the server socket programming. Thirdly, designs the personnel management programs by existing fingerprint identification system. And lastly, simulates to build the system hardware environment and tests the software system, the tests result shows that this system reaches the scheduled target very well.The software of this system is based on the Windows XP operating system, and chooses VB6.0 developing software and SQL Server 2000 database, uses object-oriented method for program design, and completes the system development. The completed system has friendly interface, powerful function, high universality, and is very suitable for library automation management in colleges.This system mainly has the following characteristics:Frist,this system combines the books management and personnel management, which can not only complete daily business management needs, but also can meet the daily administrative management needs.Secondly,this system emphasizes the authorities'division and implementation, and tries to compress the authorities which should not be possessed by the library staff. It will help the normalization of business management in library. This system is flexible in personnel management. Finally,it can easily changes the personnel, divisions, attendance time and other projects and has the function of selective examination of on-the-job personnel.This system emphasizes the humanization design, and specially develops the regular reminding function.
