The fast development and un-replaceable advantage of DWDM in the realm of transmission make the optical packet transmission and switching become a characteristic of next generation. OBS attracts much attention due to its flexibility (compared with ocs) and feasibility (compared with ops), and becomes the focus of current study. The design for the core node of OBS must ensure switch performance and synchronously reduce the cost. The paper puts forward a new switch fabric, it can effectively overcome the inner block caused by using optical fiber delay line and improve throughput. It also uses less optical components and lower cost compared with other switch fabrics. We do some simulations and validate its superiority through the results. Because Torus switch fabric performs well not only in optical domain but also in electrical domain, it is necessary to do some research on the design of single node in Torus switch network.First, this paper describes the basic concept and principles of the optical burst switching network, and base on the basic concept the paper introduces the structure and flow process of the OBS system. Then it describes the important part of the OBS system- the structure of the core node, the function...etc. Combining the design index, the paper also analyzes a few key parameters. There are many techniques used for reference on switch fabric for the core node of OBS. The paper gives some basic design scheme, and explains the peoformance and characteristic for each switch fabric. Then the paper gives some works on switch fabric for the core node of OBS. We expatiate the design scheme and schedule algorithm, and then compare its performance with other switch fabrics. The simulation results prove that Torus switch fabric performs well and saves the spending of optical components. Finally, we do some research on the single node in Torus switch network, especially improve on the flit size and buffer management. The test proves that the scheme is effective and it can be propitious to implement on engineering.
