Ethernet can receive and send real-time acquisitied data, and also can monitor the network using CSMA/CD technique; Controller Area Network(CAN) is being paid more attention and thought as one of the most potential field bus because of its high performance, high reliability and unique design. Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA) has brought broken change to the design method of digital system. Power communication controller is an embedded multi-task communication controller which adopt Ethernet, CAN bus, FPGA technique and real-time operation system.In this paper we first introduce the constitution, characteristic, communication stipulation and structural principal of the power communication controller, and also prospect the application of FPGA in communication controller. After analyzing the classification and structural principal of network port controller, we introduce the circuit based on its internal principal. CAN bus is one of the most important part of power communication controller, we introduce CAN controller interface 82C250 and CAN controller SJA1000, design and realize the CAN bus circuit based on the hierarchy structure, function, main characteristic, criterion of bus technique of CAN bus. We also realize programmable serial communication module, programmable external extended module and chip select and decoding module. At last we introduce power supply circuit, configuration circuit and test method of FPGA.
