Engine, as the most important part of motor, its manufacturing and assembling is crucial, alongside the great increase of our national economy and rapid development of automotive industrial. Engine assembly line is a pipeline technique. According to the engine assembly line's demand of information, this paper exploited the PIS system for data capture and management of engine assembly line, based on MES.This paper summarized the function compositions of MES, analyzed its essential function module, through MESA model function analysis. This paper also analyzed the compositions PIS network, using network redundant technique and reliable theory, and designed a best network construction and the scheme of routing finally.Applied to engine assembly line, PIS system is composed of data capture, attemper display, PCS, monitoring system and information management system, etc. It achieves the data collection, monitoring, planned production, attempered production, production data statistics, historic data statistics analysis, hitchs alarm, OEE calculating, report forms, etc. Moreover, PIS lies to MES, it connects ERP or other information system , and guides fieldwork.This paper introduced the exploiting procedure of PIS system in details, including database skills, data processing skills, auto-controlling theory, motoring skills and industrial Ethernet network , etc. And the author exploited an automatic, humanistic, stabilized and reliable data capture and management system in the engine assembly line, uniting the factual demand of the engine assemble line of JMGE. Applied this PIS system, it achieved assembly line's incorporation of management and control, and enhanced the producing efficiency. This system has the characters of expansibility and reconstructively and it has some reference valuable on all assembly line in both theory and practice.
