Mobile Agent-based Distributed Network Management System And Its Implementation

The complexity and heterogeneity of computer networks requires the intelligent, automatic and efficient network management capability.This thesis firstly analyzes the research state of the network management technology and mobile agent technology, and the deficiency of current network management system in performance and efficiency. Then, based on discussing the advantages of mobile agent, this thesis brings forward a distributed network management system model based on mobile agent which use mobile agent to interact with SNMP agent via SNMP protocol. Being differ from other mobile agent based network management system, it is not mandatory that every subnet has at least one daemon specific to the platform, in order to be able to host a mobile agent.Then this thesis designs collectivity and realizes details of model, the emphases is network topology discovery and performance management. By using a discovery process which is periodically re-executed in background, the effective network topology is recorded and refreshed as necessary. After describing the principle of the network topology discovery, this thesis introduces the proficient algorithm and portrays the data structure in detail. By designing an CheckPerform Agent which is used to collect the information of receiving rate, this thesis shows how mobile agent works in performance management. In order to enhance the security, this thesis extend the Aglet policies file and set the firewall rules to prevent agent from the attack based on SNMP protocol.In the end, this thesis analysis the system performance. The mobility and intelligence of mobile agent make up the deficiency of traditional network management means in efficiency, and advance the agility and extend capability of network management system.
