Television Culture "spectacle" Criticism

The Society of Spectacle Theory was proposed by Guy Debord in 1960's .It is used to describe the consuming society constructed by Spectacle principle in capitalistic society after World War II .Douglas Kllner ,a contemporary culture researcher,created the concept of Media Spectacle which was born from Guy Debord's theory and analyzed the actuality of American culture .Media Spectacle is defined as a kind of Media Culture phenomenon which can embody the basic value of our time.Based on these two theories,this thesis makes a deep research on Television Culture Spectacle and gives a explicit definition of it according to the reality of television culture in China.We analyze the reasons of its appearance from Popular Culture and reflect its side-effect.After study on all these theories,we may get the conclusion that Television Culture Spectacle is not only a kind of culture phenomenon ,but also a new text form of Polular Culture.It meets the needs of reality ,shows the structure and culture sense of our society,has significant affaction on the development of Popular Culture in China.
