Robot, an intelligent product ,which has the high and new-technology has been being developed rapidly since the middle of last century, all has some kind of unique functions generally. In the developed countries, industrial robot has already been used in fields of production and other fields widely. At present, educational robots come into people's life more and more , people can very easily bring into contact with educational robot related products, and an upsurge of educational robot researching is rising.But there are still many questions exit in the development of educational robot to be researched, educational robot's controller has the following problems :bad opening nature, bad nature of software independences, lacking network functions and has no operating system(Linux). So research into and develop the educational robot's controller which has embedded system, and some other virtues of opening nature, micromation ,strong functions, network interconnection, friendly interface(embedded operating system), was necessary and exigent.The goal of independently research and development the educational robot were: have modularized hardware and software, exerting the creativity and manual ability of robot fans, enhancing the interest of robot fans mostly ; have various and subminiature hardware modules to be take and use easily; have network function to realize long-distance control ,long-distance transmission and long-distance maintenance conveniently; have software development platform with friendly interface could facilitate realization software re-development.According to the industrial production and the application demand, two kinds of educational robots has been designed, one is the simplified educational robot, using the ARM controller to realize the various functions of the robot directly; Another is the synthesis educational robot, using the ARM processor, the embeddedμCLinux system technology, to design the network platform.Simplified educational robot , combined by simplified controller, external modules and mechanical components, has basic functions such as evading obstacle, moving along black track automatically and so on.By each kind of sensor, the switch, the servo and so on constituted the different exterior function module of synthesis educational robot, by the electrical power system, the different exterior module interface as well as the core board interface composed the mainboard. The synthesis educational robot combined by the mechanical structure, exterior function module, the controller mainboard as well as core board. Synthesis robot's controller integrates different exterior module, not only compatible with simplified educational robot's function, but also has realized other functions, for example has realized the embedded operating system, the network function , the USB function and so on, through the network, long-distance downloading and the network transmission gathering data function can be realized.
