Educational robot is auxiliary teaching equipment, which designs the intelligent robot into a general educational platform for the purpose of related disciplines teaching or the participations in each kind of scientific innovation competitions. By using educational robots with different emphasis points, students can easily get the vanguard technologies in the fields such as modern industrial design, machatronics, electronics, sensor, computer software and hardware, bionics, artificial intelligence etc. While the students obtaining the scientific knowledge, their imagination, creativity and practical ability can be cultivated and the effect in which the teaching process can be a kind of playing is also achieved. So far, these kinds of educational robot have been developed greatly in Europe, USA and Japan but seldom used in our country. Under such circumstance, our research team has developed one kind of the educational robot product to suit the domestic higher teaching.Under the support of scientific and technological innovation of process industry integrated automation founded by "985 project" This dissertation studies the existing educational robot platform in the world and designs and develops a hardware system to meet the functional requirements and verifies the capability of hardware system by specified experiments. The main contributions of the dissertation are,1. Analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of current hardware system is carried out, the general standards of design and requirements and analysis demand of hardware system is also put forward and finally completes the development work of hardware system for education robot.2. The hardware system is designed and developed in this paper. The development of the hardware system mainly includes control system and driving system. The development of the control system mainly includes power source module, processor, A/D module, wireless communication module, sensor module and interface module and so on. The development of the driving System mainly includes the selection of driving chips and the interface of DSP and driving system.3. Underlying software is designed and developed underlying software is the guarantee of achieving the function of hardware system, so the development of hardware system and underlying software must be at the same time.4. Interfaces of hardware system for software system and experimental systems are developed, by which, hardware system can implement rapid prototype and real time control.
