Accompany with the development of digital compression technology, transmission technology and VLSI design technology, digital video broadcast has been widely used all over the world. In order to fulfill requirements of information transmission and exchange in video broadcast transmission networks, SDH technology became one of the hottest research topics for broadcasting transmission technology.SDH is a kind of ideal network platform. It has a flexible network topology, diversified and standardized interface, and powerful self-recover ability. It could also provide an effective management, dynamic network maintenance, performance supervision, and so on. In our country, the SDH transmission scheme has been widely implemented in the broadcast and television network.Counting on deficiency in DS3 adaptation scheme widely used in China and suggestions provided by ITU-T, this dissertation introduced a new DVB signal transmission scheme based on ATM over SDH. This scheme combined the advantages of SDH technology and ATM technology, improved adaptation efficiency from DVB signal to SDH network, and satisfied HFC modulation mode's flexibility.This dissertation introduced DVB-SDH network fitter design in detail, and implemented a dual-direction between DVB and SDH. My design also implemented ASI interface, frame synchronicity, ATM/AAL5 adaptation protocol, SDH frame function, etc, based on FPGA. Altera Quartus II 5.0 is my design platform. Simulation results proved that my design fit the requirements and had good application value.
