New Century Chinese Minority Newspapers (2001 - 2007)

The thesis, based on the achievements of many predecessors' and researchers', has a general scan of newspapers and periodicals of the Chinese ethnic minorities in the new century. In spite of the scarce data and limited materials on the topic in the academic circles, the author has managed to provide a panoramic view of the study topic. The thesis that comprises four chapters begins with a preface offering a sketch of its present situation. And the accomplishments achieved by both local and national ethnic press are summarized in the Chapter that follows. In Chapter Two, the author analyzes the difficulties confronting the ethnic press. Functions and missions necessary for its survival are demonstrated in the following Chapter. In Chapter Four, resolutions of the present problems are discussed. What innovates is that this thesis, based on the analysis of the latest information and events, draws conclusions useful to both the development of the ethnic press and the construction of a harmonious society.
