Financial newspapers continue to play an increasingly important role in the economy of mainland China, with the establishment of a market-oriented socialist economic system. Researches and papers on the management and trends of financial newspaper have been amassed along with on-going academic discussions particularly ever since China's entry into WTO. Giving that financial newspapers have undergone a period of relatively stable development, this paper explored such eco-environment aspects as politics, economics, competition and social psychology that financial newspapers faced nowadays. Afterwards the paper created a model of how the four aspects exert their influence on financial newspapers accordingly, which changes according to three phases, namely, the pioneering phase, the developing phase and the mature phase. Financial newspapers are now at the phase of fast development and can be applied to the developing model. The paper has come to the conclusion that the whole eco-environment is theoretically capable of nursing at least one or two mainstream key players in the near future. It is further concluded that mainstream financial newspapers should work out an operating model with Chinese characteristics under new condition of new media competitors, etc,, instead of simply copying that of established key players in Western societies or in Asia.
