Optical fiber communication technology has become the main method of transmission because of low price and fine characteristic of bandwidth. SDH/SONET is transmitted by the optical fiber and growing fast by the development of fiber communication. SDH has been applied in the city area network, the long-distance communication network and the wide area network, which has become the very important part of modern communication network.SDH transmission network is made of some SDH equipments (network element), which can transmit, multiplex, cross the synchronous information on the optical fiber. According to the different function, the common SDH equipments include net control processor (NCP), synchronous clock (SC), cross switch (CS), optical line(OL),electric tributary (ET), order wire(OW) etc.SDH equipment is not like the block equipment or the character equipment, the driver development for which can be simplified because of OS support. The driver development for the SDH equipment is for the special chips used in the SDH equipment. This thesis is analyzed the driver of OL board in the ZXMP s200 equipment. ZXMP s200 equipment is a small, low rate, multiplex access equipment, which own the trait of most SDH equipment: the across capacity is 2.5G, supporting 4 optical port access at the same time, the highest rate is 622M, supporting electricity port access, support MSTP, allowing four 100M Ethernet port access, allowing long-distance update. ZXMP s200 fit for working in the equipment room or some bad environment like base station which no person to manage, the equipment also can construct different transmission network with other equipments. Optical line (OL) is one important component of SDH equipment, and OL is the interface of optical business signal. The main function of optical line include: optical/electric conversion, signal muxing/demuxing, SOH drawing/insertion, pointer adjustment/insertion, pick up the alarm and error code and so on.This thesis is based on the ZXMP s200. The article introduce the principle of SDH and its equipment, then introduce the ability of OL board and the constitution of the hardware, software and environment for driver development. Base on the ability of the OL, the driver is divided into 2 levels: driver level and driver management level. So the driver can not care the application, and can port to other board changeless, at meantime decrease the difficulty of the development. The driver is implemented in the chip zx2513B and pm5337. The result of the tests indicated the driver arrive the request. The driver has been used in the ZXMP s200 equipment at last.
