With the rapid development of Internet, the request for quality of service of network is higher and higher. The congestion controlling is an important topic of QoS research field and it's also a key obstacle of network transmission efficiency. Since the phenomenon was observed in 1986, many experts keep doing research on congestion controlling. They put forward many ideas and arithmetics, such as The Leaky Bucket Algorithm which is based on opening loop controlling theoretics, the algorithm that used in TCP/IP which is based on closed loop controllong theoretics and admittance controlling.The paper analysed the reason why the network congestion happened and the method to control it. And then, give out a new congestion controlling arithmetic, that is Inter Frame Gap Shaping.IFG Shaping is different from other traffic shaping. It indicates that aΔt time will be delayed, which is be prolong on the original IFG, after each frame was sent. TheΔt time could be enough for the next peer to deal with the frame. It makes the next peer won't be"flood". If every peer in the network won't be"flood", the network won't congest.The paper also discussed the value ofΔt, and refered《The Congestion Controlling and Modeling Based on Micro-communication Unit Architecture of virtual circuit》writed by Wu Shaozhi of UESTC to demonstrate it.IFG Shaping is a new solution of congestion controlling; Its realization is completed on network interface. The paper comprehended the composing of an Ethernet card which is according with IEEE802.3, form the view of chip design. The solution used realtek8139d as an example to realize the IFG Shaping with hardware method, by finding a pin which can control the sending of frame, and delaying its signal with a delayer that we desigen with FPGA.Otherwise, in the paper, the structure and particularity of net device were discussed, and then a IFG Shaping solution in software method was put out, which use the timing interrupt mechanism and modify or add functions, to realize the IFG Shaping.At the last of the paper, some test result data was give, which is the dependable gist of correctness and feasibility of IFG Shaping.The research on IFG Shaping is completed on the background of"New Network Architecture"project took charge by Pro. Zeng Jiazhi. But the IFG Shaping theoretics and solution can be used in any network architecture.
