With the rapid development of network, communication and digital information technology, surveillance system's model has changed a lot and made a great progress. Currently, after the help of network technology and embedded technology, a new digital network surveillance system's based on embedded system has come forth. So, this paper designs a scheme of video inspection server based on embedded WEB and realizes it at last.This server is mainly used to provide real-time video inspection and video record in some important places such as bank, marketplace, residential area and highway. Compared with other embedded video surveillance system, the system designed by this paper has two embedded software. They are WEB server and FTP client end. Through the embedded WEB server, the surveillance equipment can connect to Internet/Intranet easily. And the user can see the real-time image from the server on the WEB browser of any client end, the user also can send out some command to control the server. So the software of server is independent of client end. It obviously enhances the maintenance and upgrade efficiency. According to the command the FTP software can transport the video signal to the remote FTP server. So administrators can deal with the record at any time.The author firstly analyses the system requirements, then puts forward a design scheme of total system, and sets up a developing platform, second introduces real-time transport protocol and adaptive forward error correction, which prepare the theory foundation for chapter four. In the chapter four, the author proposes the detail design schemes of every module, and also has realized the corresponding code. Embedded WEB server, video transporting, and widget of client end constitute the video inspection server based on embedded WEB. In the first module, the analysis of HTTP message and CGI program are presented. In the second module, SOCKET program, realization of RTP protocol and AFEC, and the design and implementation of FTP client are fully discussed. The third module describes the principle of APPLET, as well as recounts the process of FEC recovery and JPEG image display.
