The multimedia conference application in the traditional telecommunicationnetwork is difficult to be applied in public, because of its complex realizationmechanism and costly investment. Furthermore, the close framework of the traditionaltelecommunication network and the low bandwidth make it difficult to rapidly achievedevelopment and deployment of multimedia services, and meet the bandwidth demandsof a large number of multimedia users. So the high-bandwidth multimedia conferenceapplications which can meet large users' needs require the emergence of newtechnologies.With the development of VOIP technology, there are two systems rising up-H.323and SIP. H.323 has considered the request that it can interflow with the originaltelecommunication system at the time of the design. So it gets support from alreadyexisting telecommunication equipment manufacturers. However, the designer of SIPcontinues putting the key point on IP network, adhering to the style of simple, open andflexible principle. However, in the aspect of connection with the terminals of CircuitSwitching Network, SIP has not offered abundant consideration. Whereas, thetechnology of H.323 is mature, and the products based on H.323 are still the mainstreamof the telecommunication market. Therefore, in order to protect the existing investment,and save the cost of network construction, the research of the multimedia conferencesystem which can integrate H.323 and SIP has great significance and economic value.Through the deep analysis of VOIP system based on SIP and H.323, this thesis putsforward a scheme to design a VOIP soft-switch system which can integrate H.323 andSIP, converting the H.323 and SIP protocol in the Proxy Server. According to therecommend standard of ITU, this thesis puts forward an audio mix model,implementing the mix function in the Media Server.Additionally, implement themulti-point control function in the Location Server, and design a service processingmodule at the upper layer of LS. Then the three loosely coupled sub-systems consist ofthe VOIP multimedia conference system. Because the communication with LS, MS andPS is using private message, LS, MS and PS can separately run on different servers. So they can rapid dispose and put into use.The focus of this thesis are the research on the integration of H.323 and SIPprotocol, and the design and implement of audio mix model.In the last, this thesis putsforward a performance optimization scheme using DSP technology and some goodsuggestions for the further research.
