Microwave solid-state frequency source is one of the most important electronic component in all microwave electronic systems. It is indispensable in radar, electronics war and mobile communication. The microwave electronic systems are demanding high performance of frequency sources as the microwave technology moving forward. As a result, the sampling phase locked dielectric resonator oscillators that have the advantages in size, cost, and low phase noise are becoming more and more widely used in such systems.In this thesis, the phase locked dielectric resonator oscillator(PLDRO) with low phase noise at X band has been analyzed ,designed, fabricated, and tested.1.The history of microwave frequency sources is reviewed in the first chapter2.The basic theories of oscillator and phase lock loop is introduced in second chapter.3.In the third chapter, the theory of four kinds of dielectric resonator oscillator (DRO) is discussed. Then we will discuss how to design and test DRO by using two popular types of DRO. The test results of these two type DROs was compared. Some measurements to reduce phase noise was proposed and tested.4.In chapter 4, we firstly introduce the theory of sampling phase lock loop and sample phase detector. Then an X band sampling phase locked DRO was designed, fabricated, and tested.5.In chapter 5, the basic theory of cross-coupled resonators filter was introduced. Then some examples of cross-coupled resonators filter was designed and tested.
