Broadband Access Server-based Broadband Metropolitan Area Network Optimization Problems

Based on the request of "operational, manageable, incremental" Broadband Metropolitan Area Network, setting about the key equipment of gateway layer ofMAN------Broadband Access Server, the author studies the method of how to optimizeBroadband Metropolitan Area Network.This paper mainly presents three points. In network security, the problem of BAS redundant configuration is solved on physical layer, calculation formulas of BAS capacity is founded on basis of available bandwidth of in-out ports, and BAS convergent-distributed network is propounded. In service security, in order to solve the problem of binding accounts of PPPoE access authenticated users, VLAN ID is extended; in order to solve the problem of access switch not supporting 802.1x authentication, transition is done by BAS equipment; in order to solve the problem of undivided port authentication, special 802.lx authentication system and client software are developed. In VPN service, bridge function of BAS equipment is used to provide ADSL-VLAN service, and in order to construct mixed network, this paper probe into combination of ADSL-VLAN and MPLS.
