Wireless MAN is the hottest wireless networking technologies. As the most promising technology in the next generation network, the broadband wireless access(BWA) system has even drawn much attention. And IEEE 802.16 Standards was published.The require of data services is increase rapidly, and the QoSs of various services are different.So the schedule of the bandwidth become a key issue.A flexible QoS mechanism is provided in the MAC layer of the IEEE 802.16 Standards, it support kinds of services.But the scheduling algorithm hasn't been given, all of this issues is left for researchers to implement.Here we discussed the design and implementation of the scheduling algorithm of uplink bandwidth allocation on the BS's MAC layer.Based on the analysis of the scheduling services types and the bandwidth allocation and request mechanisms in the IEEE802.16 Standards, a QoS architecture of the uplink bandwidth allocation scheduling on the BS's MAC layer was designed.The architecture makes best use of the QoS mechanisms, and takes the condition info of wireless channel into consideration,and to allocate the bandwidth between the 4 types services fairly.We implementation the IEEE 802.16 MAC layer protocol based on the PicoChip embedded development platform.
