With the rapid development of the third generation mobile communication system(3G) technologies , supplying higher speed and richer services , the construction of suitable 3G networks is becoming very urgent. The PHS networks, having gained great success in China recently , is sure to exist with 3G networks in a very long time .In accordance with the planning of China for frequency assignment, part of frequency channels for 3G mobile communications will be adjacent to those reserved for PHS network, which is bound to result in interference between both. This has arrested attentions of people concerned and necessary analyses on this problem. Confirming and solving of interference problems is becoming the key to coexistence of PHS networks and 3G networks.Firstly, this paper introduced the potential interference which is between 3G mobile communication networks and PHS networks. Aims at WCDMA specially, one of the mainstream standard of 3G , This paper analysesed the types and cause of interference ,and got MCL(Minimum coupling loss) by specific analysis when the two systems coexist. Secondly, for the purposes of better coexistence of the two networks in and out doors and maximizing the reasonable use of resources, this paper proposed the method and means of eliminating interference, and gave advices for relative project in practice with several interference experimentations by tentative WCDMA networks, and stated the solution which upgrades the constructed PHS indoor overlay system to PHS, WCDMA and WLAN community network system in detail. Finally, this paper puts forward own ideas and opinions on the combination of both services.
