| As a local radio access system, PHS has been used across China for several years, and it won't disappear in an expected long time. While the 3rd generation mobile system will soon be deployed in China, during which WCDMA is the most applicable candidate for providing 3G service in the future, the Chinese operators have to deal with the problem of compatibility between PHS and WCDMA. In China, PHS takes the 1900-1920MHz frequency band, while WCDMA uplink is allocated with 1920-1980MHz, WCDMA downlink will take 2110-2170MHz. So, at the frequency 1920MHz, PHS will be adjacent to WCDMA uplink, there will be fairly strong adjacent channel interference between them, compared to PHS and WCDMA downlink, which could be neglected.Present PHS standard prescribed a rather loose out-band and emission power requirements, which will cause severe interference to adjacent frequency band. The WCDMA standard requires a more strict RF performance at the account of already existed systems. Therefore, the interference from PHS to WCDMA should be at the center of concern. In this thesis, ACIR will be used to calculate the interference from PHS Cell Stations (CS) and Portable Stations (PS). WCDMA has a"soft capacity", interference will cause the raise of thermal noise, and thus the capacity will be degraded. The assessment principle of WCDMA uplink is 6 dB noise raise, which means the current active user number in a single cell when the reveiver's thermal noise is raised for 6 dB. The only situation that two systems can be co-existed is that their capacity losses are no bigger than 5%.There are two kinds of methods of studying the mutual interference issues: MCL calculation and Monte Carlo system simulation. The former is simple and fast, but not practical. The later method can simulate a scenario where a reasonable amount of base stations and mobile phones are working together. This has much more persuasion. An intact WCDMA system level simulation platform is used in this thesis, integrating a simplified PHS platform. In this mixed platform, there are 2 layers of WCDMA BS with site distance of 1000 metres, and 4 layers of PHS CS, with site... |
