The infrared thermal imaging technique has been widely applied in military and civilian affairs. Depending on its lower cost, smaller bulk and lower power consumption, the uncooled infrared thermal imaging system plays an important part in infrared thermal imaging fields. According to the theory of uncooled infrared imaging system and the research on infrared image processing algorithm, considering the practicability and miniaturization of the system, in this article we present an embedded uncooled infrared imaging system based on Nios II processor to meet the rough design goal.In the first chapter of this article, we introduce the research background and tasks of this article. In the second chapter, we analyze the theory of the infrared imaging system, and discuss the infrared imaging characteristic, infrared focal plane array structure, and non-uniformity correction theory. In the third part, with the theories above, we modify the familiar imaging system architecture based on FPGA and DSP and design an embedded infrared imaging system based on altera Nios II processor. Then we describe detailedly how the function modules work with each other in this infrared imaging system. At last, in the fourth part, in the ways of hardware debug and software debug, we describe how to access the memory devices such as SRAM and FLASH, how to implenment serial port communication and how to achieve intrared image non-uniformity correction on hardware. Result is attached.
