Food is the most important substance for human's living and development. Whether in the developing country or the developed country, the disease resulted in food is the important threatener of human's health all the while. To pay attention to food safety means to care about our today and tomorrow. In recent years, quality safety of the farm produce is the most important matter for people. While the effective measure of protecting farm produce safety is to trace the produce, working out a scientific, reasonable and feasible coding system of farm produce is much critical.This paper researches the coding of tracing farm produce and it mainly contains two parts. First, the paper improves the coding of resource of farm produce. The soil, water and the planting management all will affect the quality of the produce, so it is the principal step for tracing farm produce. Second, the paper puts forward the trace code for processing and packing of farm produce. It brings forward three schemes: loose tracing, batch tracing and chain tracing, and it is applied to special agricultural products.The coding system advanced in the paper has some characteristics as follows: (1) Feasibility. This coding system has been adopted by some farm produce corporations and has confirmed its feasibility. (2) Scientificalness. The corporations need few changes for applying it. (3) In-depth coding. The coding system in this paper touches the processing of the farm produce and other coding systems are mostly about the logistics of the farm produce. (4) Realization multiformity. The critical codes can be recorded on papers or processed by computers. The tracing information can be retrieved online and be obtained by the barcode scanister or reader.
