Data warehouse is a new information management technology evolved from database, prevailing in Enterprise Information Integration, Data Mining and Decision Making. Data warehouse needs to integrate various software tools and ensure the tools collaborate with each other effectively. Therefore, metadata plays a critical part in data warehouse environment. The success of data warehouse greatly depends on effective metadata management and smooth metadata interchange. Unfortunately, due to the intrinsic characteristic of itself, data warehouse usually encounters long development cycle and prohibitive metadata management.Model Driver Architecture (MDA) is a brand new software development framework, defined by Object Management Organization (OMG), the essence of which is to separate the definition of system function, structure and action from the implementation on specific platforms. As one of the three core components of MDA, CWM covers the whole life cycle of data warehouse and enables the life cycle management. Relying on CWM, MDA method will dramatically relieve the pain of metadata management and shorten the development process.Basing on this assumption, this thesis firstly presents an introduction of data warehouse, and then details the fundamentals of MDA and related specifications. After that, a CWM based metadata management platform is designed and implemented, and implemented the interchange which can predigest metadata sharing. Via this platform, the mechanism of metadata interchange in the platform environment is designed. And the Transformation package of CWM is employed to define the metadata transform rules to complete the whole procedure of metadata management. The full metadata management platform provides substantial support to MDA development in data warehouse.
