Data warehouse is one kind of recent application of database which emerged in the recent years. Metadata is in the data warehouse core are partial, its function is cannot be replaced. It is the foundation which between each kind of data warehouse tool operates mutually. Along with data warehouse unceasing development, Metadata standardized and the data integration demand is more and more urgent. After has experienced quite long period of time, the OMG organization proposed the CWM standard in 2001, this standard has defined common metamodel of metadata and exchange form based on XML in data warehouse and the service analysis. CWM has the deep application background and the technical support, it had many companies to support CWM and these companies has developmenting next generation product at present.After this article had been knowing initially the background system of CWM, we have carried on the description to CWM and its foundation technology, and dissect the relations of CWM model actuation structure and MDA. Above this foundation, we analyzed how use CWM to metadata modeling.After understanding CWM and metadata, through to the current each kind of information system (including database system, data warehouse system, data analysis and excavation system and so on) develops, aspect the and so on transplant and integration demand analysis, as well as to has Metadata management plan thorough research, through the comprehensive analysis of the requirement of all current information systems and the research of some metadata management solutions in existence, a warehouse metadata management solution (WMMS) is proposed. This solution integrates many function components based on CWM such as modeling tool, metadata transformation tools, metadata searching engine and metadata repositories etc., furthermore, it utilizes various common services provided by the OMG ingeniously. WMMS can manage metadata effectively in local and distributed environment and support rapid porting and integration of all kinds of information systems.In this paper, we mainly design the modeling tool and metadata transformation tool in WMMS and implement the latter. Modeling tool takes advantage of the natural relation with UML and redevelops the Rational Rose based on REI to support CWM modeling. Moreover we have designed the optimized construction of data for the modeling tool, and we have designed set of high efficiency model examination mechanisms in view of characteristic of CWM.After we have studied XMI standard of OMG, We used the data transformation tool in which transform the metadata produces in modeling tool to the xmi documents form according to the xmi standard, at the same time lets this tool realization reversion transformation.In this paper, it was explained the significance of the XMI documents inducts to the modeling tool frist, and then we have multianalysied mapping relations of object and element in metadata and XML document. And we proposed the concrete algorithm for realizes the highly effective transformation. Moreover it has produced the example of transformation.
