Design And Implementation Of Metadata Integration And Transformation Tool In Data Warehouse

Metadata is the soul of data warehouse. It provides data warehouse not only data structure, but also the building and using rules. In order to make every tool in data warehouse cooperate seamlessly, it must be effectively integrated in metadata layer. Therefore, this paper focuses on the strategy and technology of metadata integration and transformation, thus completing the metadata pooling and sharing.In this paper, the research results are as follows:(1) Discuss the significance, scope, and management principles of metadata in data warehouse.(2) In the design part, by discussing metadata integration strategy and storage mode, we design a framework for federal metadata integration and transformation tool and propose a method for metadata pooling, using which we can make a solution to integration of metadata from local metadata warehouse to centre metadata warehouse.(3) In the realization part, we discuss the role and technology of metadata transformation tool, then we present a method and strategy for model integration basing on relational database and make it to reality, finally a two-way migration method is designed to synchronize the local metadata warehouse and centre metadata warehouse.The metadata integration and transformation tool which is presented in this paper, make the structure of federal metadata management to reality in strategy and technology. And it would be a meaningful exploration in the field of metadata collection, sharing, and management.
