Brew Wireless Data Platform And Application

With the rapid development of wireless communication technology and Internet technology, the primary service of mobile telecom is changing from voice service to data service. For wireless carriers, voice service is all along their main revenue source. However, with the prevalence of SMS service, the huge business opportunity from non-voice service(data application service) is beginning to exhibit. In order to drive the development of wireless data application, to form a certain scale economic and to meet the need of the masses, a efficient and all-purpose platform for application developing,downloading,counting and subscribing, is of the most importance, for breaking through the bottle-neck of wireless data service. Developing applications based on mobile phone is so difficult, that only depending on mobile phone manufacturers′ability of software development is not enough, and will limit greatly the popularization of new applications, so wireless data platform provides such a mechanism which can make third-party developers come in this field. As for mobile users, wireless data platform can offer many colorful function, such as downloading dynamically applications,upgrading dynamically,accessing native-space of mobile phone and customing those downloaded applications as so on. At present, there are two wireless data platforms which are sustained by major mobile carriers, J2ME of SUN and BREW of QUALCOMM.This thesis will analyze,research and describe BREW in different aspects. BREW is not only a technology, but also a business solution, it can offer〝a package〞services. BREW can assign work for all of partners, and make them finish a mature and safe business solution together.J2ME and BREW, as two present major popular mobile data platforms, are often compared with each other. In fact, there is such need for comparison between them. Through comparison with J2ME, we can understand BREW more deeply.
