Brew-based Wireless Data Applications Platform

With the development of wireless data industry and the employment of wireless data application platform, they need to cooperate, including mobile devices and desktops. The distributed system can address this question. The Object Management Group's Common Object Request Broker is an appropriate distributed system. BREW is a new wireless data application platform of QUALCOMM, which is designed for handsets, and is a universal software platform for application development.This dissertation analyzes the CORBA standard, design and realize a mobile middleware BORB, which is fit for BREW. BORB is the result of configuration to full CORBA, resolving the question of limit resource. In implementation of BORB, BREW support level makes BORB run fluently on BREW. The HOP was reconstructed according to the features of mobile devices, limited processing resources, unreliable and low-bandwidth wireless networks. Some components were removed, because they are unuseful to mobile devices. This dissertation also studied Email client to give an example to readers. BORB can simplify the various encode methods and protocols. BORB can improve the importing, reuse of wireless data applications.
