The subject of this paper is an electronic engineering program of designing an automated power module test system. The idea of designing such a system was originated from the practical needs of quality inspection of power module in Institute No.30 of China Electronics Technology Group corporation (CETC). The power module is one of the basic components of the encryptor. It directly affects the quality of the encryptor. So it is necessary to examine and select the power modules strictly in order to ensure the reliable operation of the encryptors. The test system is easy to use, provides user-friendly interface and delivers high efficiency. Furthermore, it automatically compares the test result with the standard technical specification to judge whether the quality of the subject module is sound or not. It also prints the report automatically. Using the test system can help us to avoid both the possible errors in the judgment of the tester and the tampering of test result. Thus the test result will be more reliable. The test system is very useful in reducing the error rate of power module testing and improving the overall standard of quality inspection in the Institute No.30.This paper is based on the engineering practice. It firstly analyses and explains the test techniques and theory of the power module testing for the reader to understand the goal of test. Then it briefly introduces the classification and innerworkings of the automated examination systems, and the reasoning behind system selection. Finally this article depicts the system we choose, including its elements, functions and program implement. This article also uses the practical test procedure and result to validate the correctness and practicality of the system. The test system supports both DC/DC and AC/AC power modules. It automatically tests the power module, records the test data, calculates the parameters, processes all the data, and makes the quality judgment and prints test reports. With its help, the acceptance inspection of the power modules of our institute will attain a much higher efficiency. The economic benefits brought by the system can also be expected.
