Distributed polarization coupling analyzer (DPCA) is a white-light interference system capable of detecting the location and the intensity of the polarization coupling points in the polarization maintaining fiber (PMF). The SNR of DPCA is about -80 dB. As a result, the precision of fiber-optic gyroscope (FOG) is improved and the cost of FOG is reduced.On the basis of the previous work in the design of optics and mechanic, a high speed data acquisition system that is based on USB2.0 is built and discussed in this thesis.The major achievements in this thesis are:Based on the previous work of DPCA, a high speed data acquisition system based on Universal Serial Bus, which is 480Mb/s in high speed mode, is proposed. The logic controlling function of the USB data acquisition system is realized with Field Programmable Gate Array. Considering the theory of signal integrity, the printed circuit board is designed.The USB chip contains an integrated, high-performance CPU based on the enhanced 8051 processor and USB interface engine. Control transfer, interrupt transfer and bulk transfer are used to realize the transfer of different type of data and command.Adopting the theory of modern EDA technology, FPGA logic design of the USB data acquisition system is accomplished. The centralized design method optimized the logic architecture.USB device driver program of DPCA is developed under Windows 2000 operation system, based on Windows driver model.With the high-frequency oscilloscope and USB Control Panel, the USB chip is tested. The endpoint configuration, vendor requests and clock are validated. The simulation of FPGA confirms the design of system.
