This paper discusses the Office Management System herein developed for Armored Divisions. The system arranges the various data from the on-duty information, the issue and the return of the official documents, to the duty vehicles in the institutions. Clients are easy to edit, superintend and search the interested information through the existing database via computers. Typically, it provides not only the editing template for the official documents, which the clients may edit, recycle, check, approve and transfer the proper documents in accordance with the relating codes easily, but also a new solution to tackle the real-time communication among the departments in the institution through the LAN. The aforesaid template and new approach are practical for the improvement of the work rate in the institutions and realizing the real-time communication among the departments.On the basis of elaboration of the source and meaning of the research of the subject, the paper analyzes the undergoing situation and developing trends of the abroad Office Management System, sets up the developing environment and methods according to the pragmatic requirements of an Armored Division. It designs the functional and sub-functional block of the software system, including the registration, record, and inquiry of the on-duty information, real-time communication, the editing and restore of the official documents, check, approval, management, transfer, and encryption of the documents, registration and using information of the vehicles, users management and help system, etc. At the end of it, it discusses the developing steps and methods of the database of the system in detail.The system is developed with Visual Basic 6. 0, and chooses Microsoft SQL Server 2000 as its Database Management System. So, VB can visit database managed by SQL Server 2000 through ODBC.
