Technology of Digital Signal Processing is widely applied in many fields, such as communication, voice processing, computer and multimedia with the advancement of digital electronic technology. Fast Fourier Transform is the core technique of DSP, and its performing time is shorter a few stages than DFTs.Field Programmable Gate Array is a new type of programmable device at high speed development in recent years. The scale and integration of electronic design are being enlarged with the continuous application of FPGA. And the method and idea of electronic system design are improved from time to time.This paper studies the implementation of FFT processor based on FPGA. It includes selection and validation of the arithmetic, design of the whole architecture and modules, implementation and test of the system. This design adopts the algorithm of radix-2 and decimation in time, and realizes a block-floating point FFT system of 512-point which is 16-bits complex number by using Verilog HDL at the interface of ISE6.1 provided by XILINX Inc. Then it finishes simulation and synthesis of the system on Virtex II XC2V1000. The simulation indicates that the result of calculation can reach equivalent precision and the operation speed of FFT can satisfy the request of commonly real-time signal processing.
