This thesis presents the development of an electric system that will be employed in a novel constructional radar transmitter system with high reliability. Such a system will provide modulated power for forward-wave-amplifier (FWA) and function of protection and control of whole radar transmitter system.In this research, soft switching technology was used to increase the power transform efficiency of the power supply. The high-power high-voltage power supply (HVPS) works at zero-current soft switching mode which is different from conventional theory of soft switching mode which usually works at low current density with high voltage output, so called technology of full bridge phase shifting control zero-voltage switching (FB-PS-ZVS) pulse-width-modulate (PWM). In this thesis, we study the theory of soft switching procedure in a high voltage with low current mode, and discuss the conditions of operation at soft switching mode. As a result, the principle of choosing the most important electronic components is given and some calculating formulae are listed. To prove the theory and formulae, software PSPICE was used with its function of simulation. The results showed that our design and analysis are correct.The convenience of utilizing PSPICE and MAGNETCS DESIGNER is obviously, such software provide us a novel method to design electronic circuit system. We can easily observe the variety of voltage/current-time curve of each device in whole circuit by altering its parameter in computer simulation, so we can optimize our design more rapidly and more efficiently than conventional experimental method. Using simulation of PSPICE, it is very easy to observe the voltage and current wave during the procedure of soft switching in electronic switch IGBT and MOSFET, which is very difficult to measure by conventional electronic measurement, so we can study the relationship of each component in whole circuit and investigate the function in soft switching procedure by changing its parameter step by step.
