With the progress of the technology, the modern war puts forward a series of extremely complicate new problem to campaign personals, for example, the conventionality drill being invested enormously and the poor security etc. But virtual battlefield has many particular advantages in the military maneuver, such as scientific, economical, antagonistic, intuitional, interactive, real-time, etc. And it provides an efficient approach to implement the scenario of stratagem, battle and tactic for all the armies in the world in the new age, and enhances the training effect foe the participants.The research of this paper is how to establish the Virtual Battlefield of Tank Element. The development of virtual battlefield system deals with a good many technical factors, this dissertation mostly carries through the research of the modeling of scene and globe path planning of virtual tank. The main research and contributions of this dissertation are:(1)This paper has done analysis of the system and makes sure the plan and development processes of the system based on date which had attain at last.(2)This paper study the method of establishing of 3D terrain: gaining the digital elevation data and vector data through contour data like plane military topographic map, establishing the 3D terrain using Terra Vista. This paper has study the method of 3D model of entity. Through the thorough under standing of the structure of the Openflight database, this paper studies the technology which is used to speedup the model rendering.(3) To think over the influence to the environment in battlefield of natural environment, this paper study for simulation of the rain and snow based on particle system , and introduces different mathematics model for the different characteristic between rain and snow.
