With the rapid development of the information technology, computer and it's application impact on the basic education more and more heavy. Net's construction has gone out of the mode of campus net already, the construction of the educational Metropolitan Area Network has been approved and attentioned by regional education department progressively , and the educational MAN has got fast development in the east area and developed area of our country. But most cities of medium-sized in the western area has been refused outside the door where the network is built in because of the enormous investment number, so the reseach of the educational MAN's construction mode for medium-sized city in western area has been very necessary and applicable. The main achievement of this paper lies in :①The paper has analyzed the development process and trend of the educational Metropolitan Area Network. With a view to the advanced computer software, hardware, network technologies, and based on the specific situation of medium-size cities in the western region, it sumed up, serached and practised the construction model of educational Metropolitan Area Network.②It has analyzed the key elements of the contraction model of educational Metropolitan Area Network, and separated them into three main parts: the network platform , the foundation application platform and application systems.③As the basic of the educational Metropolitan Area Network , the network platform occupy larger proportion both in invest and actual using, this paper has put forward the thoughts of constructing the educational Metropolitan Area Network base on other network platform , and analyzed the key elements that includes basic network protocol choosing, topology , address planning , core exchange equipments and network security and so on.④In this paper, the application construction has been separated into two part, foundation application platform and application systems. And the paper has analysed each characteristic and construction mode.⑤Because the project management's functions are very important in the construction of informationization, the paper has explained the main content of project management simply and sumed up the risks in the construction of educational Metropolitan Area Network.⑥This paper's research results come from the educational Metropolitan Area Network of Mianyang in actual construction, have certain guidance significance and reference value to the construction of the Metropolitan Area Network of other medium-sized citis in western region.
