Like other liquid crystals (LC), chorlesteric phase liquid crystal (CLC) not only owns liquidity, deformability and viscosity of liquid, but also holds the optical anisotropy of crystal. In addition, there are some intrinsic special properties like rotary polarization, bragg reflection, polarized light dichroism of CLC because of its helical molecular structure.These special optical properties make CLC possess of great potential application such as testing and analyzing, using as broadband reflective polarizer or circular polarization filters and field-display and so on. The most of applications are relevant to the choice reflection property. This property depends on molecules arrangement of its planar structure. At present, the planar structure of CLC can be acquired by two methods. One is treating the panel of LC cell by orienting and rubbing, the other is by forming polymer net in the LC. The both method can be used at the same time. Because of the segment of the orienting and rubbing cost high in the whole LCD production craft, omitting it can save cost of production. The method of manufacturing polymer stabilized chorlesteric texture (PSCT) with better planar structure under without orienting and rubbing is searching in this article.First, the special properties of CLC are introduced. Then, the numerical calculation to the reflection light spectrum is deduced by utilizing Berremam's 4×4 matrix, which will supply theoretical gist to the following experiments. At last, the PSCT with better planar structure is achieved, and the PSCT is bistable at zero field.The emphasis of this article is studying the influence of the polymer net in the CLC to the reflected spectrum. At the same time, under the laboratory condition in possession, a design scheme of manufacturing PSCT with better planar structure, which needn't orienting and rubbing, is found out by optimizing the craft condition like the species of polymer monomer, the concentration of monomer, the polymerization conditions (temperature, time, UV light intensity).A method of manufacturing PSCT with better planar structure is achieved by...
